Noongar Six Seasons

BUNURU
Long days and short nights mark Bunuru, the hottest of the six seasons. Traditionally, it has been—and continues to be—a wonderful time to live and fish along the coast, as well as by rivers and estuaries.
APRIL | MAY

MAKURU
Makuru is the coldest season, bringing rain, storms, and long nights. It is a favourable time for hunting yongka (kangaroo), wetj (emu), kaarda (goanna), koomal (possum), and kwenda (bandicoot).
AUGUST | SEPTEMBER
DJILBA
Djilba is a transitional season, bringing a mix of crisp, clear cold days and warmer periods of rain and wind. During this time, budding djet (flowers) appear and koola (emu plum) begins to bear fruit. It’s also an excellent season for catching djildjit (fish).
OCTOBER | NOVEMBER
KAMBARANG
Kambarang brings longer, warmer days and a decline in rainfall. The djet are in full bloom, and plants used for mereny (food), medicine, crafts, tools, kaal (fire), and ceremony are gathered during this time.

“Volunteers"
The Friends of Wireless Hill Park is a community group, made up of volunteers, that is dedicated to conserving and protecting the bushland of Wireless Hill Park. The Friends group was established in 1987.
“ Picnics and walking"
Wireless Hill Park has picnic areas, ample parking and extensive walking trails throughout the bushland, making it a popular destination for families and community groups for walking, bird watching and photography.
